Dlaczego warto studiować w Akademii WSB
Why study it:

International Relations at WSB University (Akademia WSB) is a six-semester first-cycle programme taught in English, leading to a bachelor's degree. It is for people open to the world who are interested in international cooperation, business and intercultural communication.

Programme: global economy, politics and communication

You study international economic, political and social relations, learn how the world economy works and analyse contemporary global processes. The curriculum covers international organisations, intercultural communication, international marketing and foreign trade. Along the way you build communication, negotiation and organisational skills needed in international work, and the programme links all this with practical challenges of the labour market. The aim is to prepare you to function consciously in a dynamic international environment, whether business, social or cultural, and to act confidently in a multicultural setting.

Specialisation: business and trade or tourism

You choose one of two specialisations:

  • International Business, Trade and Marketing – international business, global marketing, foreign trade and building business relations on international markets.
  • International Tourism – work in the international tourism industry, organising tourism services and managing modern tourism and international mobility.

Placements: workshops, experts and work placements

The programme includes workshops, case studies, meetings with practitioners and work placements, so you gain experience while still studying.

You work on real examples and analyse current global phenomena, and you can take part in projects and initiatives connected with international cooperation.

Languages: an international group of students

You study in English alongside students from many countries, developing language, intercultural and business competences. This international setting, together with contact with experts in international business, trade and tourism, improves your competitiveness on the labour market both in Poland and abroad.

After graduation: careers at home and abroad

Graduates work, for example, in:

  • international cooperation departments
  • marketing and foreign trade
  • international customer service
  • the tourism industry
  • international organisations, public institutions and companies expanding on foreign markets

⇑Definitions and quotes

International
International mostly means something (a company, language, or organization) involving more than a single country. The term international as a word means involvement of, interaction between or encompassing more than one nation, or generally beyond national boundaries. For example, international law, which is applied by more than one country and usually everywhere on Earth, and international language which is a language spoken by residents of more than one country.
International Relations
International Relations (IR) or International Affairs (IA) - commonly also referred to as International Studies (IS) or Global Studies (GS) - is the study of interconnectedness of politics, economics and law on a global level. Depending on the academic institution, it is either a field of political science, an interdisciplinary academic field similar to global studies, or an entirely independent academic discipline in which students take a variety of internationally focused courses in social science and humanities disciplines. In all cases, the field studies relationships between political entities (polities) such as sovereign states, inter-governmental organizations (IGOs), international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), other non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and multinational corporations (MNCs), and the wider world-systems produced by this interaction. International relations is an academic and a public policy field, and so can be positive and normative, because it analyses and formulates the foreign policy of a given state.
International Relations
Offensive realism predicts that the United States will send its army across the Atlantic when there is a potential hegemon in Europe that the local great powers cannot contain by themselves.
John Mearsheimer, The Tragedy of Great Power Politics (2001).
International Relations
A potential hegemon, as emphasized throughout this book, must be wealthier than any of its regional rivals and must possess the most powerful army in the area.
John Mearsheimer, The Tragedy of Great Power Politics (2001).
International Relations
To build a theory of international relations on accidents of geography and history is dangerous.
Kenneth Waltz, Man, the State, and War (1954).
