1. You have one week to make a short promotional video for a student event. Where do you start?

I write a short script, plan the shots, record footage and sound, and edit it with music and titles. I film something on my phone and post it as it is. I’d ask someone else to do it.

2. How do you feel about combining different media – video, sound, photos, text and interactive elements – in one project?

That’s exactly what excites me – the mix gives the strongest effect. I like one medium, but combining them sounds complicated. It doesn’t interest me.

3. A friend’s podcast sounds echoey and uneven. Could you help?

Yes – I’d suggest a better recording set-up and clean up the audio in editing software. I’d tell them to buy a better microphone. No idea, and I’m not interested.

4. Which task would you choose for a class project?

Designing an interactive website that tells a story with video, animation and sound. Writing a report about websites. Neither of them.

5. Your editing software crashes the night before a deadline. How do you react?

I recover the autosave, keep calm and in future back up my projects regularly. I panic and ask for an extension. I’d just not hand anything in.

6. The programme is taught in English, and you’ll create projects with students from many countries. How do you feel about that?

Great – media tools, tutorials and creative industries are global, and mixed teams bring fresh ideas. I understand English tutorials, but speaking in class would be harder for me. I’d rather study in my own language, with people from my own country.

7. How do you feel about learning the technical side – cameras, lighting, audio levels, file formats?

I’m keen – good technique lets my ideas come across properly. Only as much as I absolutely need. I’d rather skip anything technical.

8. A client rejects your first concept and asks for something completely different. What do you do?

I ask questions to understand what they need and prepare a new version without taking it personally. I make small changes and hope it’s enough. I’d refuse to start again.

9. Which future job sounds most like you?

Video editor, multimedia producer, content creator or interactive media designer. Something creative, but I don’t know what. A job with no media or creative work.

10. What motivates you most to study Multimedia?

The chance to create videos, sound and interactive projects that tell stories and reach a wide audience. Working in media seems fun. I’m not sure it’s for me
