Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz (UKW) runs Mechatronics as a full-time, first-cycle engineering programme taught entirely in English and lasting three and a half years. It is meant for students interested in robots, drones, intelligent vehicles, modern machines and artificial intelligence who want to combine mechanics, electronics, computer science and robotics.
Alongside mathematics, mechanics and engineering materials, the core courses include:
You choose one of two specialisation tracks. Unmanned Systems Engineering covers mobile platform programming, aerodynamics and flight mechanics, drives and control of unmanned systems, digital signal and image processing, 3D printing in prototyping and the design of unmanned platforms.
Mechatronics of Production Systems focuses on automation of production processes, control of automated production systems, computer-aided engineering, sensor and measurement systems, and sales, distribution and production in ERP systems.
Practical work is part of the programme: students take part in projects, industrial placements and internships, work in teams on a mechatronic team project and use equipment in the university's laboratories. Courses are taught by practitioners.
All classes are taught in English, so you learn the specialist vocabulary of mechanics, electronics and automation in the language used across the industry. The programme also includes a foreign language course. Graduates are expected to use the specialist language of the field confidently.
Graduates can work on the design, manufacturing, servicing and diagnostics of mechatronic systems, for example in:
Did you know? Student life at UKW includes research clubs, a ski course, a sailing club – and the chance to play chess with the Dean.
