Software, Business Process and Database Engineering is a specialisation within the Computer Science programme, a full-time Master's course taught in English at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology (PJAIT). It is for those who want to link programmers and business teams and take part in larger software projects.
This specialisation has a particularly broad scope, so it is divided into four areas:
You gain good knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems, query languages, and the design of data warehouses and the processes that feed them. You learn to select a database system, monitor a database server and tune its performance. On the software side you identify, document and validate requirements, model business processes, apply design patterns and work with diverse architectures, including multi-tier and service architectures. You also study secure software creation, artificial intelligence in decision-making systems and the social side of working in development teams. It suits students with analytical thinking, proficiency in a general-purpose programming language, knowledge of database fundamentals and teamwork skills.
A graduate is prepared to work in larger software development teams and in teams that analyse and support business processes, mediating between programmers and the business side. Roles range from business analyst, system analyst and requirements engineer to database designer and administrator, data warehouse designer, software engineer and manager of IT project teams.
Typical workplaces are companies that build and implement business software, organisations that process large data sets such as banks, insurers and telecom operators, and the analytical departments of large enterprises.
