Project Management is a specialisation within the Information Management programme at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology (PJAIT). It is for you if you see yourself coordinating IT ventures and the teams behind them.

Programme: organisation, standards and engineering

The specialisation combines:

extensive and detailed knowledge of organisation and project management
management norms and standards
engineering knowledge in software engineering and in software creation and maintenance processes
the ability to understand and model business processes, and to document and optimise them

Specialisation: agile and tool support

Thesis topics show the practical side of the specialisation: implementing agile methodology in a software development organisation, and tool support for project management methodology. The wider programme also prepares you to manage projects with the Scrum methodology. You choose this specialisation in the fifth semester of full-time studies.

After graduation: both sides of an IT project

You are prepared to work in project teams for IT ventures, in organisations carrying out any projects, especially IT ones, on the supplier's side as well as on the side of the customer who buys the solution: in software development departments, IT infrastructure maintenance departments and IT consulting companies.

Project Management

Project management is the practice of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria at the specified time. A project is a temporary endeavor designed to produce a unique product, service or result with a defined beginning and end (usually time-constrained, and often constrained by funding or staffing) undertaken to meet unique goals and objectives, typically to bring about beneficial change or added value. The temporary nature of projects stands in contrast with business as usual (or operations), which are repetitive, permanent, or semi-permanent functional activities to produce products or services. In practice, the management of such distinct production approaches requires the development of distinct technical skills and management strategies.
