Data Science is a specialisation within the Computer Science programme at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology (PJAIT), taught at master's level. It is for people who want to find meaning in very large data sets.
The amount of data around us grows so fast that processing even a selected fragment of it in a classical way is no longer possible. This is why the specialisation focuses on data analysis with methods that go beyond the standards of earlier decades. You learn to work with Big Data, meaning unconventional approaches to engineering large datasets, within the new science known as Data Science.
Rules and information contained in large datasets, once discovered and properly used, can improve the quality of life of an individual, a patient, a company and society as a whole. They can also help in discovering new laws of nature and the structure of matter, on both micro and macro scales.
You choose this area by completing a questionnaire, and you can select two areas at the same time if you want to combine Data Science with another one.
The demand for specialists in data analysis is growing, as digital life produces more data and new space appears for managing economic, social and business processes.
