⇑Why study Economics at the Sopot University of Applied Sciences?

Dlaczego warto studiować w Sopockiej Akademii Nauk Stosowanych
Why study it:

Economics at the Sopot University of Applied Sciences (SANS) is a three-year (six-semester) bachelor's programme with a practical profile, taught in English. It is for you if you want to build a career in many areas of business and learn to work with local, national and international markets.

Programme: practical training for economists and finance specialists

The programme prepares you to work as an economist and finance specialist in different roles in domestic and international organisations. You learn how economic decisions are made at various levels of management in a company, and the knowledge you gain follows the needs of a changing social and economic environment. A large share of classes takes the form of workshops, laboratories and projects, led by business practitioners such as business analysts, company managers, auditors and lawyers. Along the way you develop your analytical skills.

Placements: first experience while you study

You can combine study with learning the profession in practice and gain your first experience while you are still at university, in companies from various sectors, in financial institutions and in local government. The university has worked for many years with domestic and international companies, which is where internships and placements take place.

You meet staff and trainers of partner firms at thematic workshops, on placements and in regular classes. The partners include outsourcing centres and leading recruiters of economists, finance specialists, accountants and controllers.

Languages: business English

Business English is part of the course. Because classes are taught in English, you develop your language skills until you can hold a fluent business conversation with partners from abroad, and a B2 level at the start is enough to join the programme.

After graduation: careers across business

Graduates work as:

  • business and economic analysts and auditors
  • managers and heads of economic and personnel departments in private companies and in local-government and state institutions
  • experts, consultants and controllers of business activity and of the tax administration
  • real estate agents, sales representatives, insurance agents and brokers
  • logistics and freight forwarding specialists and import specialists
  • founders of their own businesses, which the programme also prepares you for

Economics
Economics () is the social science that studies the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.
Economics
Economics is a subject that really relates to core aspects of human well-being, and there’s a methodology for thinking about these things. This was a very appealing combination to me. Market systems are capable of massive breakdowns that can result in long, devastating periods of high unemployment. And I felt that economists had really learned something about how to address that.
Janet Yellen, in "The Hand on the Lever" in The New Yorker (July 21, 2014) by Nicholas Lemann
Economics
In my youth it was said that what was too silly to be said may be sung. In modern economics it may be put into mathematics.
Ronald Coase, The firm, the market and the law (1988) Chapter 6. A remark on "The problem of social cost" (last sentence).
Economics
To have peace and not war, the drift toward a war economy, as facilitated by the moves and the demands of the sophisticated conservatives, must be stopped; to have peace without slump, the tactics and policies of the practical right must be overcome. The political and economic power of both must be broken. The power of these giants of main drift is both economically and politically anchored; both unions and an independent labor party are needed to struggle effective.
C. Wright Mills, The New Men of Power (1948).
