The expectations of the younger generation fascinated with high technology product market, the Internet, and participation in the culture of a world without borders, enforce the change in teaching and learning processes on universities. WSSiP inscribed these expectations in his idea of education. While maintaining respect for tradition, made the transition from traditionally understood academy of fine arts - as narrowly specialized vocational schools - to the universities open to the changes of civilization and culture. WSSiP is the only university in Poland, where the gap between the architecture of the buildings, and the interior architecture has been restored to the essence of architecture as a coherent whole. It is the university with the widest range of specializations in the field of design in Poland. This is the third university in Poland in fields of photography and film.
WSSiP university is a small, elite, educating on the basis of theory and experiment creative individual management teams of teaching, which include professors of the best universities in Poland and recognized practitioners of the profession. Working on the idea of the university, experience and awareness of changes shaped the institution of unprecedented organizational structure in Poland and the contemporary meaning of education for the future. School of Art and Design in Łódź launched by the Minister of Science and Higher Education in 1998 , is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Polish all faculties conducted. This non-public school with a unique organizational structure, educating in the field of architecture, design, photography and film with a wide range of specialties. The school is housed in a historic palace Scheibler in an equally historic quarter of the city called. "Księży Mill" next to the State Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre so.
